Izhorskiye Zavody Successfully Completes Hydrostatic Testing of VVER-1200 Reactor Vessel for the Second Power Unit of Leningrad NPP-2

Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has successfully performed hydrostatic tests on VVER-1200 reactor vessel for the second power unit of Leningrad NPP-2.

Results of the hydrostatic tests were evaluated by a commission consisting of representatives of NIAEP, the main contractor for NPP construction, Leningrad NPP-2, OKB Gidropress, FSUE VO Safety and Izhorskiye Zavody experts.

The hydrostatic tests have confirmed durability and density of the main metal parts and seams of the reactor vessel. Currently Izhorskiye Zavody experts are preparing to perform test assembly of the vessel together with internal components and the upper unit lid, the last step in production process before the reactor vessel is shipped to the customer.

Leningrad NPP-2 is constructed according to NPP-2006 project for replacing capacities of the existing power station. Under the contract signed in 2008, Izhorskiye Zavody produces reactor vessels together with internal components and upper units and other primary coolant equipment for two Leningrad NPP-2 power units. Izhorskiye Zavody completed delivery of the first VVER-1200 reactor vessel to Leningrad NPP-2 in Autumn 2012.
