Izhorskiye Zavody Delivers Reservoir for the Fourth Power Unit of Rostov NPP

Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has completed production and delivery of the fourth and last reservoir for the emergency core cooling system of the fourth power unit of Rostov NPP.

First three reservoirs for the fourth power unit of Rostov NPP were delivered to the customer in a period between December 2014 and June 2015. In May 2015 Izhorskiye Zavody shipped VVER-1000 reactor vessel for the fourth Rostov NPP power unit. In late June, after travelling a distance of 3,500 km by Neva, Moscow, Volga and Don rivers, the reactor vessel arrived to Atommash special quay in Volgodonsk, from where it was delivered to the power unit construction site at the NPP.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13.5 km from the city of Volgodonsk. Two power units with 1000MW VVER-1000 reactors are currently operated at the plant. First power unit was put into operation in 2001, the second – in December 2010. Izhorskiye Zavody produced reactor equipment for the third power unit, which test operation began in late 2014. On July 14, 2015 the third power unit reached nominal capacity. Launch of the fourth power unit is scheduled for 2017.
