Izhorskiye Zavody Delivered Second Reactor Vessel for Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant (NNPP-2)

Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant was put into operation in 1964 and became the first station with VVER reactor system, which construction was recognized as one of the safest in the world. Each of going NNPP reactors is a principal prototype of serial power reactors of water-moderated water-cooled type: VVER-440 and VVER-1000 produced by Izhorskiye Zavody.
Power reactor VVER-1200 for NNPP-2 is the principal installation of NPP-2006 project and belongs to the most advanced III+ generation. A range of engineering changes has been made to the project which guarantee higher safety level complying with the most stringent international requirements as well as improvement of technical and economic indexes and extended operating period of the power block to 60 years.
Izhorskiye Zavody is the only referential producer of reactor equipment with VVER-1200. This vessel became the third VVER-1200 produced by the enterprise. The first reactor was delivered to the customer in May 2011 in line with the contract on production and delivery of power engineering equipment for Novovoronezh NPP-2 signed in 2007. The second reactor VVER-1200 was produced and delivered by Izhorskiye Zavody to Leningrad NPP-2 in 2012.
